The Beginning of the Hard Schedule

The 53rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese College of Cardiology was held by the President Professor Hori in Osaka University Medical School from September 19th Monday through 21st, 2005 in Osaka International Convention Center. On the last day September 21st, live case transmissions for percutaneous intervention were held from Kansai Rosai Hospital, where I used to work before 17 years. I transmitted 1 case through the right radial approach from the hospital. It was my first time to do cases in this hospital after 17 years. Vice President Dr. Nagata and Director of Cardiology Dr. Nanto kindly prepared a dinner party for me. During the dinner, I could see many people again after 17 years’ blank.

Next day September 22 Thursday, 2005, I flied to Madrid. I took Lufthansa LH 6005 flight departing at 9:30 AM from Kansai International Airport to Frankfurt. After 1 and half hours’ transit time in Frankfurt Airport, I changed the flight to LH 2582 flight, which arrived in Madrid International Airport at 19:20. I directly moved to the Venue of TEAM 2005 meeting, which was Hotel Melia Castilla, Madrid. A symposium for CTO lesions were held from 8:00 PM. I joined it. Dr. Fina Mauri did a good presentation.

September 23 Friday, 2005

This meeting was TEAM 2005 meeting, which is Terapia Endovascular & Miocardica in Spanish. The meeting is “Intravascular and myocardial therapies”. The meeting is held by my friend Professor Eulogio Garcia. I left the hotel for Gregorio Maranon University General Hospital to do a live case transmission. The patient had a very complex trifurcation lesion in the proximal LAD. I treated this lesion by using a 7 French guiding catheter through the right radial approach. It was around lunch time when I came back to the hotel. I crossed the street in front of the hotel and came in a bar to have light lunch. At the bar counter, many uncured hams were suspended for drying. I had dishes of Spanish Omelet and marinated sardine.

I visited a Seafood Restaurant Sierna Verde for dinner. There I had a hot pod of baby eel, which Spanish name is Angulas. Angulas is very expensive, and its price was 70 Euros. We have to use a special wooden fork to eat Angulas.

September 24 Saturday, 2005

I was very tense with the preparation for coming CCT meeting as a chief Director of the meeting, which was held between September 26 and 29. Since I had to do live case transmission from my hospital to the meeting Venue in Kobe for many difficult and complex cases, my heart was almost broken from the stress. My only hope was to come back to Japan as soon as and as comfortable as possible.

I left Medrid Barajas International Airport at 12:40 for Zurich, where I changed my flight to JL 452 flight, and finally I could arrive at Narita International Airport around 1:00 PM on September 25 Sunday, 2005.

きついスケジュールの始まり

大阪大学堀教授が会長をされた第53回日本心臓病学会が大阪国際会議場で2005年9月19 日月曜日から21日水曜日まで開催されました。最終日の21日には私が17年前まで勤めていた関西労災病院よりライブデモンストレーション中継が行われました。私は1例TRIでライブデモンストレーション中継しましたが、17年振りにこの病院で手技を行ったことになります。永田副院長そして、南都循環器部長はご親切にも昔の仲間を集めてその夜会食を催して下さいました。17年振りにたくさんの人々とお会いしました。

翌日22日木曜日、私はマドリッドに旅立ちました。ルフトハンザ航空LH 6005便に乗り、 9:30 AMに関西国際空港からフランクフルトに向けて飛び立ちました。そこで、1時間半ぐらいのトランジットの後でLH 2582便に乗り換え、マドリッドに到着したのは、19:20ぐらいでした。そのままTEAM 2005の会場でもあるMila Castillaホテルに直行し、8:00 PMから開催されていたCTOのシンポジウムに参加しました。Dr. Fina Mauriはとてもすばらしい講演をされました。

この学会はTEAM 2005というもので、それはスペイン語の「血管内および心筋治療」の頭文字です。この会は私の友人でもあるGarcia教授が開催されています。ホテルを出て、Greagorio Maranon大学病院に向かいました。私の患者さんはLAD近位部にとても複雑な3分岐病変を持っていました。右橈骨動脈より7Frガイドカテを用いて治療しました。ホテルに戻ると昼食時でしたので、ホテル向かいの居酒屋に入りました。居酒屋のカウンターには生ハムがたくさん乾燥のためにぶら下がっていました。そこで、スペイン・オムレツとイワシの酢漬けを食べました。
