I went to the National Defense Medical Center, Taipei directly from the Airport, where the meeting of the 2nd Taiwan Transcatheter Therapeutics (TTT) took place. We arrived at the hospital much earlier than expected due to non-congested traffic in the early morning of Sunday. Thus, we decided to have breakfast in a famous local restaurant, where anybody can have breakfast anytime during 24 hours a day. I ordered several dishes. My favorite one was the bowl of hot and spicy soy milk. These kinds of soy milk restaurants are getting more and more popular also in mainland China. Many Taiwanese restaurants are now coming in mainland China.

After having breakfast, I arrived in the Cathlabo of National Defense Medical Center. The hospital is quite large. The 1st case was performed by Dr. Lim from Singapore National University Hospital. His case had an ostial left main lesion. My case was arranged as the next case to him. The case was shown to me. They told me, “Since her RCA shows heavy calcification, we recommend you to do Rotablator for this patient.” However, the calcification seemed not superficial. I told them that I would not take Rotablator.

When I came in the catheter laboratory, Dr. Takahiko Suzuki was doing PCI for CTO lesion in the proximal LAD in another room. My case was much easier than his case. Because the arterial and venous sheaths had been already inserted from the right groin, I did the case through the 6-French transfemoral approach. By using a 6-French AL 1.0 guiding catheter, I placed 3 TAXUS stents in her RCA after predilatation. Since the ostium of the posterior descending artery was jailed by the stent, I did kissing balloon inflation and finished the procedure.

I moved to the huge auditorium within the hospital to moderate live demonstrations and do lecture. After delivering my lecture on “TRI for CTO lesions”, I left the meeting venue before 12:00 noon and hurried to one of my favorite restaurants in Taipei “DinTaiFung”, which was very crowded as always. In front of the restaurant, there were many people waiting and was a long queue. After having ShaoLongBao, I moved to the Airport and took the return flight of ANA NH 209 to Narita Airport. I finally arrived in Narita Airport around 7:00 PM on December 04 Sunday 2005, and this rushed journey to Taiwan ended. As a result, I stayed in Taiwan just only for 9 hours.

短時間の台北
NurembergからFrankfurt Main国際空港に飛んでから、空港内のレストランで朝食を摂 りました。フランクフルト空港でフランクフルト・ソーセージを食べました。Frankfurtから中 華航空CI 062便に2005年12月3日に乗り、12時間以上の飛行を経て12月4日日曜日の6:05 AMに台北蒋介石国際空港に到着しました。飛行機の中では自分のコンピューターで仕事してい ましたので、4から5時間ぐらいしか寝ませんでした。私は、その日、空港に到着した最初の乗 客であり、最初に待合室に現れました。空港には未だ人がほとんどいませんでした。外は雨で、 気温は15度でした。

空港から第二回台湾インターベンション学会(TTT)が開催されている国防医療センターに 直行しました。しかし、日曜日の早朝でもあり、交通はまばらでしたので予想よりも早く到着し てしまいました。このため、その辺りの町食堂で朝食を摂ることに決めました。そこは、「来来 豆漿」という店であり、24時間何時でも朝食を摂ることができます。ここで、いくつか頼みま したが、一番好きなのは、温かく辛い豆乳です。このような豆乳専門店は中国本土でも人気であ り、台湾からたくさんの店が中国本土に進出しています。

朝食を食べてから、国防医療センターカテ室に行きました。病院はとても大きなものです。 第一例目はシンガポール国立大学のLim先生が行いました。彼の症例は左主幹部入口部病変の 患者さんでした。私の症例はこの次に予定させていました。自分の症例を見せてもらいました。 彼らが言うには、「RCAは石灰化が著明なので、ロータブレーターが必要だと思うのですが」、 しかし、石灰化は深部のものと考えられたので、私はロータブレーターを行わないことにしまし た。

カテ室に入ると、鈴木孝彦先生がLADの慢性完全閉塞症例を違う部屋でやっていました。 この症例よりも私の症例はとても簡単でした。既に大腿動脈・静脈からシースが挿入されていま したので、6FrのTFIで行いました。6Fr AL1.0ガイドカテを用いて、前拡張してからTAXUS ステントを3つ植え込みました。後下行枝の分岐部でステントによってJailしたため、Kissing Balloonを行って終了しました。

病院内の巨大な講堂に移動して、モデレーターを行いました。また、慢性完全閉塞病変に 対するTRIの講義を行いました。この後、12:00正午前に会場を去りました。そして、台北の 好きなレストランの一つである、鼎泰豊に行きました。何時もの如く、とても込んでいて、店の 前には長い行列が出来ていました。小龍包を食べてから空港に向かい、成田行きの全日空NH 209便に乗りました。そして、2005年12月5日日曜日の7:00 PM頃に成田に到着しました。 やっとこの慌しい旅は終わりました。結局台湾に滞在したのは9時間ぐらいでした。
