Flying to Beijing

I spent a few hour in Narita Airport after coming back from Amsterdam and took the JL 789 flight to Beijing departing at 18:10 on October 14th Saturday 2006 to participate in the 4th Five-Continent International Symposium on Cardiovascular Disease, which was held mainly by Anzhen hospital. Since my schedule was too tight, I first rejected the participation. However, the organizing committee strongly asked me to join as a lecturer and a chair person. Finally, I have decided to join it.

I arrived in Beijing Airport around 8:30 PM and directly moved to a popular Szechuan cuisine restaurant to have late dinner. This time, my hotel was Crown Plaza Hotel near Beijing International Convention Center (BICC), which was booked by the organizing committee for me.

October 15th Sunday 2006

I left the hotel around 8:15 AM and walked to the BICC. From 8:30 AM, the meeting started. I chaired the debate session with Professor Lu Shuzheng and a chief bypass surgeon Dr. Huang Fangjiong in Anzhen hospital. The debate was for medical treatment, surgery and PCI for triple vessel disease. The speakers were physicians and surgeons (Dr. Chen Fang, Dr. Li hizhong and Dr. Huang) from Anzhen hospital. At the end of their presentation, I showed a typical case. Anzhen hospital did 3,079 cases of PCI and 1,509 cases of CABG last year. In 2001, they were 799 and 600 cases respectively. The increases in case numbers in the last 5 years were more than double. Especially, the case number of PCI increased by almost 4 times. Amazing!　

After finishing this session, I discussed with Professor Zhou Yujie. He told me that Anzhen hospital would have International TRI Workshop in early December this year. I was strongly asked to participate. After this discussion, I got out from the BICC. The road in front of the BICC was the course for ANA Marathon in Beijing. The road was blocked by policemen, and an ambulance car was waiting for the possible emergency. After having lunch, I returned to Japan by JL 782 flight in the afternoon. Thus, I stayed in Beijing for only 18 hours.

北京への飛行

アムステルダムから帰国し、そのまま成田空港で数時間過ごしてから、2006年10月14 日土曜日18:10発のJL 789便に搭乗して北京に向いました。これは、第四回五洲国際心血管病 研究会に参加するためです。この学会は北京安貞病院が開催するものです。出席を要請された時、 スケジュールがきついので初めは断りました。しかし、強く要請されたため、講演と座長を引き 受けることにしました。

北京空港到着は8:30 PMぐらいでした。そのままいつもの大衆的四川料理店で遅い夕食を 食べました。今回は、学会場である北京国際会議場(BICC)脇のCrown Plazaホテルに宿泊しま した。

8:15 AM頃にホテルを出てBICCまで歩きました。8:30 AMに学会が始まりました。私は、 安貞病院の呂先生と、心臓外科医 黄　先生と一緒に、三枝病変に対する内科的、外科的そしてPCIのデ ィベイト・セッションの座長をしました。演者は安貞病院の内科医と外科医 (陳先生、　李先生、黄先生)でした。彼らの発表 の後で、私が症例呈示をしました。安貞病院では、2005年に3,079例のPCIと、1,509例のCABG が行われました。2001年にはそれぞれ799例と600例でしたので、過去5年間での増加率は倍 以上ということになります。特にPCIの増加率は4倍以上です。驚きです。

このセッションを終えてから、周先生と話し合いました。彼は、安貞病院で国際TRIワー クショップを今年12月早々に開催したいので、私に強く参加して欲しい旨、要請されました。 この話し合いの後、BICCから外に出たのですが、丁度前の道がANAマラソン大会のコースに なっており、警察官によって封鎖されていました。また、救急車が一台万一に備えて待機してい ました。昼食を摂ってから、この日の午後のJL 782便で日本に戻りました。こうして、北京滞 在18時間が過ぎました。
