Sorrowful Journey to Beijing

I flew to Beijing by JL 638 departing at 09:35 AM on September 23rd Sunday 2007 to attend the International Heart Forum meeting as one of the International Faculty members. The flight arrived in Beijing before 1:00 PM. I directly moved to Fuwai National Cardiovascular Center to perform 1 CTO case for the live transmission.

After changing my clothes, I met Dr. Cheng in GuanDong People’s Hospital, who just finished his live transmission. My case had a CTO lesion at a proximal RCA. It seemed not so difficult. I tried an Eel-intermediate guidewire, which was developed recently by Japan Lifeline Company. The guidewire worked nicely. I could finish the procedure in 1 hour. Even after the successful crossing of the guidewire, I could not cross even a 1.25-mm balloon catheter. We could make a lot of fruitful discussion with moderators in the meeting place. Anyway, the final result was nice.

After finishing the procedure, I met Dr. Qiao, who was the consulting physician for that patient. The patient came from Shan-Xi province in order to receive the procedure on the day.

September 24th Monday 2007

I visited Friendship Hospital to do PCI. Dr. Wang and Dr. Li were preparing 12 cases for me. Several cases were difficult.

After finishing the cases by 12:00 noon, I visited Dr. Jia Sanqing’s home with Dr. Wang Lei. He is really my best friends in China. I met him first in 1996. Already 10 years have passed. It is pity for me that he has gone forever away from our living world in the end of August 2007. He had made a great contribution to the development of TRI in China.

I went to the Airport directly from Dr. Jia’s House. By taking JL 782 flight departing at 15:20, I returned to Japan at 19:30 on September 24th Monday 2007.

北京への沈痛な旅

2007年9月23日日曜日朝 09:35 AM発JL 638便北京に飛びました。これはIHFという 学会に招聘されたからです。飛行機は1:00 PM前に到着し、そのまま阜外心臓病センターに向 かいました。そこではライブのためにCTOが一症例待っていました。

服を着替えると広州人民醫院の陳先生がおられまた。彼は、丁度ライブ症例を終えた所でし た。私の症例はRCA近位部のCTOでしたが、そんなに難しそうに見えませんでした。このた め、日本ライフラインが新しく開発したEel-intermediateガイドワイヤーを試みました。この ガイドワイヤーはとてもうまいこと通過し、手技は1時間以内に終了しました。ガイドワイヤ ーが通過した後も、1.25-mmのバルーンも通過せしませんでした。このため、会場ととても有 意義な議論を行うことができました。どちらにしても、最終の仕上がりは素晴らしいものでした。

症例を終えたらQiao先生がおられました。彼がその患者さんの主治医であり、患者さんは 山西省からわざわざ出てきた患者さんでした。

PCIを行うために北京友誼病院に行きました。Wang先生とLi先生は12例の症例を用意 されていました。その内の何例かは困難な症例でした。

症例を12:00までに終え、Wang先生と一緒に、Jia先生のお宅をお邪魔しました。Jia先生 は、僕の中国での最大の親友です。彼と最初にお会いしたのは1996年でした。もう10年間が 過ぎました。彼が2007年8月終わりに永久の旅に旅立ち、私たちの世界とは永遠に別れてしま ったのはとても残念です。彼は、中国でのTRIの発展に多大な貢献をされました。

Jia先生のお宅を去り、空港に向かいました。15:20発のJL 782便で日本に到着したのは、 9月24日の19:30でした。
