Busy Schedule during CIT 2008

I flew from NARITA Airport by NH 0923 flight departing at 9:50 AM on March 19th Wednesday 2008 to Guangzhou Airport. Since I was tired, I took rest in my hotel room after having early dinner. I came there to do a live case transmission through TRI during TRI Symposium during CIT 2008 meeting (China Interventional Therapeutics) in Beijing.

March 20th Thursday 2008

I visited Guangdong Province People’s Hospital, which is one of the most famous cardiovascular hospitals in China. I came here more than 10 years’ ago. After that, a Japanese physician visited there and did a difficult case. However, the patient was unfortunately killed on the table. After that, it had been strictly prohibited for many years for any foreign physicians to do cases in this hospital. This time, I got a special temporal license to do cases in this hospital.

The case assigned to me was a difficult case with a CTO lesion in RCA. Initially, I claimed why I had to do a CTO case during TRI live transmission. However, the case was already assigned. I started the case from 7:30 AM by using bi-radial 7Fr TRI. I crossed the septal artery with a Fielder-FC guidewire. By 8:00 AM, everybody knew the case would be done successfully. However, I had to wait for more than 30 minutes for live transmission. It was wasting time. My case was supposed to be the 1st case in live transmission. However, without notice, the case by Ferdinand Kiemeneij was transmitted first. When the transmission came to me, I had almost finished the case. It should be interesting to all of the participants to see how we could do retrograde approach for CTO lesions through TRI.

After finishing the case, I hurried to the airport to catch the CZ 324 flight to Beijing departing at 12:00. After arriving at Beijing Capital Airport around 15:00, I went to the Beijing International Conference Center to attend the Opening Ceremony of CIT 2008 and deliver the welcome address as one of the Course Directors of CIT 2008 meeting.

March 21st Friday 2008

I was on stage as a moderator for live transmission from Columbia University Hospital, New York between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM. After that, I met Dr. Wang Lei of Beijing Friendship Hospital. During lunch time, I was a lecturer in CTO lunch time session. After these roles, I met a very important Chinese Government person. Then, I hurried to Fuwai National Cardiovascular Center to do a difficult CTO case without live transmission.

The case was really a very difficult one. However, I was successful. All of the staffs in the catheter laboratory welcomed me. I could perform the treatment very comfortably. I thank nurses, technicians as well as the physicians, who assisted me.

I returned to the Conference hall to do a lecture on Xience DES stent between 18:00 and 19:30. After finishing all of my roles of the day, I visited 2 SUSHI restaurants in Beijing. When I came to Beijing first time more than 15 years ago, I have had SUSHI in Beijing. However, because it was terrible, I have never tried SUSHI again in China. This time, I first visited “YOTSUBA”. It was acceptable but not good for me. Next, I visited “TAKAKURA” close to KunLun Hotel. It was perfect. I was really amazed to know we could have good SHUSHI comparable to that in Ginza, Tokyo. The name of Chef is Taniguchi. He is Japanese, but speaks corrupted Japanese. He has been living in Beijing for more than 10 years. However, his skill in SUSHI is perfect.

CIT 2008での忙しいスケジュール

2008年3月19日水曜日9:50 AM成田発のNH 923便で広州空港に向かいました。その日 は疲れていましたので、早めに夕食をとってからホテルで休みました。広州に来たのは、CIT 2008 (China Interventional Therapeutics)のTRIシンポジウムでライブデモンストレーション を飛ばすためです。

中国国内でも心臓病治療で有名な広東省人民病院を訪れました。この病院には10年以上前 に数回訪問したことがあります。しかし、その後　ある日本人医師が難しい症例を治療して、不 幸にも治療の最中に亡くなられる事件がありました。それ以来、この病院で外国人が手技をする ことは非常に困難になりました。今回私は特別な免許を取得しました。

私に与えられた症例は右冠動脈のCTOの症例でした。最初、TRIセッションなのに何でCTO なのか?と　抗議しましたが、何れにしても症例は変わりませんでした。7:30 AMから両側TRI で開始しました。中隔枝経由でFielder-FCを用いて逆行性アプローチを行いました。8:00 AM までには皆成功を確信しました。当初私のこの症例が一番目に中継されることになっていたので すが、何の連絡も無く、Kiemeneij先生の症例が中継されました。ですから、30分以上も待た ねばなりませんでした。中継がやっと来た時には、ほとんど終っていました。本当は皆　どうや ってTRIでCTOに対して逆行性アプローチを行うか見たかったと思いますよ。

この症例を終えて12:00発の北京行きCZ 324便に乗るために空港に急ぎました。北京空港 には15:00に到着し、そのまま北京国際会議場に向かいました。そこで、CITの開催者の一人 として歓迎のスピーチをしました。

8:00 AMから10:00 AMはコロンヒア大学からの中継のモデレーターでした。その後、北 京友誼病院の王先生とお会いしました。昼食帯はCTOのセッションで講義を行い、その後、あ る中国政府関係者と面談し、それからオフラインで一例難しいCTO症例の治療に阜外心臓病病 院に向かいました。

その症例は本当に難しい症例でしたが成功しました。カテ室の皆が歓迎して下さいました。 とっても快適に症例を治療できました。看護師さん、技師さん、そして助手の先生方に感謝です。

この後　会議場に戻り、Xience DESについてのレクチャーを18:00から19:30行いました。 この日の役目を終了し、北京にある二軒の寿司屋さんに行きました。実を言うと、15年以上前 に北京を始めて訪れた時、寿司を食べました。しかし、とってもおいしくなかったので、それ以 来中国では寿司屋さんは敬遠していました。まず、「四葉」に行きました。まずまずでした。次 に、崑崙ホテル近くの「高倉」に行きました。ここはすごい、銀座に出してもおかしくありませ ん。おやじさんは谷口さんという方です。この方は北京に10年以上住んでおられ、日本語が相 当訛っていました。でも、その腕は超一流です。
