TRI course in St Vincent’s Hospital

TRI is now blooming up in USA. Especially young Interventional Cardiologists have a lot of interests. We had a TRI course in St Vincent’s hospital on June 12 and 13. In this course, we invited several young Interventional Cardiologists, who were interested in TRI, from Stanford University Hospital, Texas Heart Institute, and so on.

I flew to New York by JL 006 flight and arrived in JFK airport around 11:00 AM on June 12th Thursday 2008. After checking in the hotel, I joined the course as an instructor. The dinner on the day was in Blue Water Grill. We had a pleasant dinner there. After finishing the dinner earlier, I visited Japanese noodle restaurant “Soba-Koh”. Fortunately, I met the Soba Master Mr. Takahashi there. The soba was really delicious.

June 13th Friday 2008

Next day, I visited St Vincent’s Hospital again to join the course. I personally did several cases with CTO lesions. I tested a new device named “Crosser”, which was designed for CTO lesions and utilized the ultrasound energy. I used that device in 2 patients. In the 1st patient, it worked nicely but not in the 2nd case due to the un-flexible tip of the device.

After finishing all of the cases, we went to a sport bar near the hospital, where European-Cup Soccer games were transmitted. We had beer there. I had the dinner together with Japanese colleagues, who came in order to join the NPO Brazil trip. Next day on Saturday, we flew to Sao Paulo by TAM Airline JJ 8083 flight departing at 09:25 AM.

St Vincent病院でのTRIコース

米国ではTRIは黎明期です。若い先生方が興味を持っています。今回、St Vincent病院で TRIコースを開催し、若手の先生方をStanford大学やTexas Heat Instituteなどから招きまし た。

JL 006便でニューヨークに飛び、6月12日の11:00 AM頃にJFK空港に到着しました。ホ テルにチェック・インしてから、病院に行き、そのコースに指導者として参加しました。夕食は 皆でBlue Water Grillで摂りましたが、早めに退席して、「蕎麦幸」に行きました。偶然、ご主 人の高橋さんにお会いすることができました。本当においしい蕎麦です。

翌日もSt Vincent病院のコースに参加しました。私自身、数例のCTO症例を治療しました が、Crosserというディバイスを使うことができました。これは、CTO用に開発されたもので、 超音波エネルギーを使います。一例ではうまくいきましたが、もう一例では、ディバイスが硬く てうまくいきませんでした。

症例を終えてから、病院近くのスポーツ・バーに行き、丁度やっていたヨーロッパ・サッカ ー選手権の中継を見ながらビールを飲みました。その日の夕食は、特定非営利活動法人ティー・ アール・アイ国際ネットワークで日伯100周年記念事業に参加する皆と一緒に食べました。翌 朝土曜日の9:25 AM発のTAM航空JL 8083便でサンパウロに飛びました。
