I came to Cochin as a course co-director for the 1st Amrita Transradial Summit (ATS) meeting, which was held in and by Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. My co-director was Dr. Rajesh Tachathodiyl in the hospital. This big hospital is belonging to the medical school and run by a religious organization.

The meeting was started in a big auditorium within the hospital with a holly inauguration ceremony. After finishing this ceremony, I moved to the catheter laboratories and performed several cases through TRI as well as lectures.
|
|
|
Because Cochin is located in front of Arabic Ocean, the sunset is beautiful. I took a boat to see the beautiful sunset in Arabic Ocean. Before the boat was going out from the bay to the outer ocean, there were several fish nets called “Chinese nets”. A dinner party was held in the hotel. The famous historical dancing “Katakari” was shown.

September 14th Sunday 2009
I joined the meeting in the morning. I also received TV and Newspaper interviews. After finishing the roles in the meeting, I went to the short sightseeing in Cochin. Cochin used to be ruled by Portugal. The famous Portugal explore, Vasco de Gama died in the Saint Francisco Church at Cochin in 1524. I visited the Church and other historical buildings.

I had dinner with a Japanese Cardiovascular Surgeon, Dr. Takayuki KADOHAMA, who came from ASAHIKAWA Medical University to learn Pediatric Heart Surgery, and was staying alone for 1 year near the Amrita Hospital in Cochin. I was very impressed by his attitude to learn hard. After finishing the dinner, I left for Singapore in the late evening. Finally, I reached to Narita flying on NH 112 flight at 16:20 on September 15th Monday 2008.

初めてのコーチン
20008年9月12日金曜日11:00 AM 成田空港からNH 111便でシンガポールに飛びまし た。シンガポールで飛行機を乗り継いで、その日の夜遅くにコーチンに到着しました。コー チンは、南インドの西海岸にある大きな都市です。そこに行ったのはこれが初めてでした。 私は、海岸に沿って、Willingdon島にあるTaj Malabarホテルに宿泊しました。

コーチンに来たのは、第一回Amrita Transradial Summit (ATS)という会のco-director のためです。この会は、Amrita医学研究所の主催で、そこで開催されました。私のco-director はその病院のRajesh先生でした。この巨大な病院はある宗教団体によって運営されていま す。

会は院内の大きな講堂で、聖なる開会式と共に始まりました。この開会式を終え、私は カテ室に行きました。数例TRIで治療し、また講演もしました。

コーチンはアラビア海に面していますので、夕日が沈むのはとても美しいのです。船に 乗って、アラビア海に夕日が沈むのを見ました。船が湾から外洋に出る時に、「中国網」と 呼ばれる、魚捕りの網がありました。夕食会はホテルで開催さ、「カタカリ」と呼ばれる民 族舞踊が披露されました。

午前中学会に参加しました。テレビや新聞からのインタビューも受けました。学会での 役割を終了してから、コーチン市内観光に行きました。コーチンはかつてポルトガルに治め られていました。有名なポルトガル人の探検家、バスコ・ダ・ガマはこのコーチンにある聖 フランシスコ教会で1524年に亡くなりました。私は、その教会を含め、歴史的建造物を訪 れました。

夕食は日本人の心臓外科医、角浜 孝行先生と一緒に摂りました。彼は、旭川医大から 一人で一年間このコーチンのAmrita病院近くに住み、小児心臓外科を学んでいるのです。 彼のこのように一生懸命学ぼうという姿勢にとても感心しました。夕食を終え、この日の夜 遅くにシンガポールに向けて発ち、シンガポールでNH 112便に乗り換え、成田空港に2008 年9月15日16:20に到着しました。
