Introduction

The flight from Ahmedabad to Singapore (SQ461) was delayed in departure so that we arrived in Singapore Changi International Airport around 15:00. After the farewell to Japanese colleagues for TRICO 2005 meeting at the airport, I moved to Hotel Ritz Carlton Millenia, which is close to Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, where the 14th Singapore Live Demonstration Course was held. I was again invited as one of the invited live operators and international faculty members.
From my room, the whole scenery of the financial area of downtown Singapore could be seen . Also, I could see the symbol of port Singapore, “Ma Lion”.

Since I had a duty to do a lecture on transradial PCI for AMI patients from 4:00 PM, I hurried to the convention center. The entrance of the meeting was not crowded. However, the lecture room was crowded, and we had a lot of heated discussions each other.

After finishing this session, I dropped at a Sports Shop on the way back to the hotel to by T-shirt, short pants and sandals, since it was hot and humid in Singapore.

After having dinner in a Japanese restaurant, we went a street restaurant to have a cup of fish ball soup. From my standpoint of view, most good restaurants in Singapore are far from Asian taste. However, we can find good foods of Asian taste in casual or street restaurants. Fish ball soup is clearly one of those good tastes. I recommend you to have Tiger beer together with these Asian tastes.

I took rest in my room by 10 AM, since my due schedule as an operator was from 11:30 AM. I asked day laundry service within the hotel and put my suits and underwear. I had another formal trouser and shirt, which must be clean, because I asked laundry service at the Pride Hotel, Ahmedabad. However, it was not true.
When I opened a package returned from the laundry of the Pride Hotel in my room at Ritz Carlton Singapore, I found that the trouser got more dirty and crumpled. I really got upset, since I had nothing to wear other that T-shirt and short pants, which I bought last night in a sports shop. Anyway, I had no other choice than getting those T-shirt and short pants on. Thus, I decided to go to the catheter laboratories at National Singapore Heart Center, which is a part of Singapore General Hospital run by Singapore Ministry of Health, with T-shirt, short pants and sandals.

When I arrived at the catheter laboratories, I so quickly changed to the surgical clothes that very few people could identify what I wore in. I quickly finished my case through the right radial artery by placing several drug-eluting stents for a patient with previous bypass surgery with low left ventricular function and congestive heart failure.

Since I had no formal wears, I cancelled my duties in the afternoon, which included a moderator for live case transmission from India and another lecture.
I checked out the hotel around 5:30 PM and moved to the East Coast Seafood Center on the way back to the airport, where we can have very nice pepper crab in the famous and my most favorite restaurant in Singapore, Red Hose. Whenever I visited this restaurant, I used to wait for several minutes to have a table. However, the area was surprisingly not crowded even after it got dark outside.

I took a return flight to Japan (JL710) departing at 23:00 from Singapore Airport. The flight arrived at Narita Airport at 6:15 AM. I went to my hospital directly to do PCI and outpatient clinic.

はじめに

アーマダバードからシンガポールへのSQ461便は遅れましたので、シンガポール・チャンギ国際空港に着いたのはかれこれ午後3時になっていました。空港でTRICO 2005参加の日本の先生方と別れを告げてから私はリッツ・カールトン・ミレニア・ホテルに向かいました。このホテルは第14回シンガポール・ライブデモンストレーション会場であるサンテック・センターに近い場所にあります。今回も、招聘術者およびファカルティーの一人として招聘されました。
私の部屋からの眺めは良く、シンガポール金融街を一望することが出来ました。良く見るとシンガポール港のシンボルであるマー・ライオンも見ることが出来ます。

その日の午後4時から急性心筋梗塞に対するTRIの講演を行わねばなりませんでしたので、会場に急ぎました。会場の入り口は閑散としていました。でも講演会場は混んでいました。私たちは熱のこもった議論をしました。

このセッションを終え、ホテルに戻る途中でスポーツ用品店に立ち寄り、Tシャツ、短パンそしてサンダルを購入しました。シンガポールはじめじめししていて暑かったのです。

日本食レストランで夕食を食べた後、魚団子スープを食べに屋台に行きました。私はどうも、シンガポールのほとんどの良いレストランはアジアの味ではない、と思います。でも、屋台などに行けばとてもおいしいアジアの味を味わうことができます。魚団子スープはそのようなものの一つで、とてもおいしいです。一緒にタイガー・ビールを飲むことをお勧めします。

部屋で朝の10時までゆっくりしました。私の術者としての予定が午前11:30からだったからです。私はホテルのランドリーに背広とか下着のクリーニングを頼みました。もう一つちゃんとしたズボンとシャツをアーマダバードのプライド・ホテルでクリーニングに出していたからです。でも驚愕でした。
リッツの部屋でアーマダバードでのクリーニングの包みをほどいて驚きました。ズボンはくしゃくしゃで更に汚されていました。正直、呆気にとられました。昨日買ったTシャツと短パン以外に着るものがありません。仕方なく、Tシャツ、短パン、サンダルの格好でシンガポール厚生省直轄シンガポール総合病院内のシンガポール心臓センターの中の心臓カテーテル検査室に行くことにしました。

カテ室に着いたらば、皆に格好を見られることのないようにすばやく術衣に着替えました。バイパス後で、心機能が悪く心不全にあった患者さんに対するPCIを右橈骨動脈からDESを植えて、すばやく終えました。

ちゃんとした着る物が無かったので、午後のインドからのライブデモンストレーション・モデレーターと講演演者の予定はキャンセルしました。
夕方5:30にホテルをチェック・アウトして空港に行く途中の東海岸シーフード・センターに向かいました。そこではとてもおいしいPepper Crabを食べることができますし、私のシンガポールで最も好きなレストラン、小紅瘻を訪れることが出来ます。何時も必ず行けばテーブルにつくのに数分間は待たされるのに、外が暗くなっても人出が少なかったことに驚きました。

シンガポール発23:00のJL710便に乗って日本に戻りました。成田に朝の6:15に到着し、そのまま病院に向かい、PCIを行い、また外来診療をしました。
